Joaquín López: "Any regional government that is concerned about the historical heritage would not leave the Castillo de Mula" (28/10/2018)

The spokesman of the Socialist Parliamentary Group and deputy secretary general of PSRM, Joaquín López, has assured that any regional government that is concerned about putting value on the historical heritage and culture of the Region of Murcia, should pay due attention to the castle of Mula and do not abandon it.

The socialist leader made these statements during a visit to the castle, along with regional deputy Jesus Navarro, the mayor of the municipality, Juan Jesus Moreno, and the citizen platform "Mula por su Castillo", and asked the regional government and the councilor of Culture and Tourism that dedicate the necessary time to their competences, "that do not dedicate it to other things, but to attend requests like this that are fair for the municipality and for the Region of Murcia".

According to López, the City Council and the citizen platform, which defend the identity of the Mula castle as an identity of this municipality, have fulfilled their obligations and are working permanently to make the recovery of the castle a reality.

He has indicated that the Socialist Parliamentary Group will propose that in the next budgets for the Autonomous Community there will be one million euros so that, once the City Council has complied with the master plan, this is a reality.

"We hope that there will be unanimous support from all the political parties that really want Mula and the Region, that they really get involved in the budgets to meet those 500 years in 2020 and that this castle can be visited by the muleños and muleñas with pride , as well as all the citizens of the Region of Murcia, "he concluded.

For its part, the mayor of Mula, Juan Jesus Moreno, said that the City is working hand in hand with the platform "to conquer what is right."

"We ask for the support to take into account an important item in the next budgets of the Community to carry out all the projects that are carried out from now on with respect to the Mula Castle. We are working to recover a heritage of the Region of Murcia and we can not continue for another minute abandoning it, "he remarked.
