Mula hosts, from 4 to 6 November, the Second Conference on Hunting, Tourism and Gastronomy (28/10/2011)

The main purpose of these meetings is to use the appeal of hunting as a development engine for rural areas

Mula hosts from 4 to 6 November, the Second Conference on Hunting, Tourism and Food, organized by the Commonwealth Tourism Espuña and this year will feature exhibitions, lectures, presentation of a book, game dishes tasting, product market hunting and craft and auction lots of Barbary sheep hunting in Sierra Espuña.

This past hunting season, the Commonwealth started this project with the celebration of the First Conference Game, Tourism and Gastronomy, focusing on the use of hunting, which has been shown to be an important driver for rural development.

The main objectives of this conference is to promote awareness of Barbary sheep among the citizens, promote the tourism product Espuña hunting, give knowledge of food culture and promote the information specific to this sector.

The Barbary sheep is a bovid, a species of wild goat, native to northern Maghreb and rocky areas of the Sahara, was introduced in 1973 Espuña the sole purpose of which was the subject of hunting, thereby creating a National Reserve Hunting.

This animal was adapted very well to the mountain environment and its population is currently in a good health status, so there is an ideal situation, with the support of the Directorate General of Environment, to maximize this resource and manage in an efficient manner so that it can provide an opportunity for sustainable tourism development and well planned.

The Conference to be held in the Municipal Archives building in Plaza Hospital offer many activities among which:

4th November:

18:00.

Opening of the Conference

18:15.

Opening of the exhibition "40 years Espuña hunting" where you can see a sample of trophies, photographs and weapons.

18:45 hours.

Presentation of "The Barbary sheep in Sierra Espuña Opportunity or threat? Written by Alfonso San Miguel Ayanz, Professor of the School of Forestry in Madrid.

20:00.

Lecture: "The Hunt, Rural development engine" for Jesus Slab Hollow, PhD in Forestry.

5th November:

11:00.

Auction of eight lots of hunting

12:00.

1 st Barbary sheep meat tasting "Barbary sheep and cane" (tapas restaurants donated by La Perdiz, Coquus, Monasterio de Santa Eulalia, new homes, home, Cigarralejo and Casino) and 1st Exhibition of Tourism Espuña.

6th November:

11:00 to 14:00 hours.
