Youth in Europe and Asia participate in archaeological fieldwork Mula (23/07/2009)

The director of the Institute of Youth in the Region of Murcia, Veronica Lopez, accompanied by the councilman of Youth council of Mula, José Ángel Díaz, today visited the 24 young participants in the international work camp Mula archeology, which conducted in the late-Roman villa Villaricos, located in the hamlet of Arreaque.

The field, which this year celebrates its thirteenth edition, takes place in two shifts, from 15 to 29 July and 31 July to 14 August, twenty-four young in each.

The participants, aged between 18 and 26, come from different countries in Europe and Asia, such as Spain, France, Russia, Turkey and South Korea.

The volunteers will digging, cleaning and inventory of materials removed during excavation at the site of Villaricos.

They have also organized cultural and leisure activities such as beach trips, tours of Mula, Murcia, Cartagena and Spa Archena, plus workshops on body language and visual arts.

Veronica Lopez said that "volunteers working area for a few days living with youth from other social realities, promoting cultural exchanges through specific activities that take place in the archaeological and related to the culture of the Region Murcia. "

The activities of labor camps, along with the camps, are part of the campaign 'Summer Youth 2009' launched by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, through the Institute of Youth.

The total budget for this campaign is 500,000 euros, of which the Youth Institute provides € 410,000 and the Caja de Ahorros del Mediterráneo 90,000 euros.
