The Ministry of Development and Infrastructures will construct a reinforced concrete wall at the 7.2 km point of the RM-516 road, which connects La Puebla de Mula with El Niño de Mula, to prevent landslides and rocks from invading the roadway and Make difficult the circulation in this road, that circulates more than one million vehicles to the year.
In this area of ​​the road, material collapses occurred as a result of the rainy season last December and the low stability of the slope, and invaded part of the road.
José Antonio Fernández Lladó, the director general of roads, today visited the repair works accompanied by the mayor of Mula, Juan Jesus Moreno, and explained that "the road and the shoulder of rocks, gravel and land will be cleaned and a wall will be built So that, in case of this type of landslides, the fallen material accumulates behind the wall and does not affect the road ".
Also, the works contemplate the protection of part of the slope that was detached by means of the placement of cyclopean concrete, manually, as well as the lining of the gutter and part of the shoulder.
The works will finish next week and have involved an investment of 36,249 euros.
