Two people have been investigated as alleged perpetrators of forest fire crime
From the investigation it is clear that the origin of the fire is due to a recklessness
The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has completed the operation 'ABEJA' with the investigation of two people, who have been instructed as alleged perpetrators of crime against collective security, because of its link with the origin of a fire that took place in the area of Los Losares de Mula and calcined about 4,000 m2.
of monte bajo.
On September 19, a forest fire broke out in the Los Losares area of Mula, which affected about 4,000 m2 in an area of low forest, with scrub species such as esparto, thyme, rosemary and herbaceous species , and in which also was an apicultural settlement of about 300 hives.
Once the fire was suppressed, civil guards of the Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA) began the operation with the objective of clarifying the causes of the fire and, if necessary, identifying those responsible.
The fire started in an area with esparto (Stipa tenacísima) plants, which due to their dry state had a high rate of combustion.
The first investigations were carried out in the calcined area, where indications were obtained that allowed to determine that the fire had its origin in the exhaust pipe of a vehicle that was in the place, by the production of one or several sparks.
The agents managed to find out that a crane truck had been unloading the hives in the beehive settlement prior to the fire.
As a result of the investigation, the civil guards identified the two people who performed the hive unloading tasks.
These, once located, stated that the fire occurred with a spark caused by the truck-crane, some supposedly negligent events because of the lack of a flame-extinguishing device, a necessary preventive measure for the use of vehicles and machinery in the mountain.
The Civil Guard has investigated the two workers, who have been instructed as alleged perpetrators of forest fire crime.
Given the drought situation that the forests suffer, in any activity to be carried out in them, extreme precautions must be taken in order to avoid forest fires.
