The government delegate, Rafael González Tovar, reported that at its last meeting, the Cabinet authorized the Ministry of Development to enter into commitments of spending from future years amounting to 52,584,701 euros, to subsidize projects with funds from the 1 in 100 Cultural.
González Tovar added that the permit allows the realization of the recovery project for community use of the old Convent of San Francisco de Mula, acting with the agreement signed in previous years and represents an investment of EUR 1,037,326.11 (370,473.61 committed 666,852.50 this year and for 2011)
The fund of 1 per 100 Cultural contribution is constituted by the Ministry of Development of the total investment it made in public works and is intended to subsidize conservation work and enrichment of historical heritage.
Some of these initiatives, for its complexity of rehabilitation, consolidation, recovery or restoration, require lead times in excess of twelve months, reaching in some cases periods ranging between 18 and 36 months.
Hence, it is necessary to address their financing through the assumption of multi-year commitments, which requires the approval of the Council of Ministers.
The amounts approved by the Council of Ministers will serve to meet the multi-year agreements signed in previous years, as well as those actions proven by the Joint Commission, formed by the Ministries of Development and Culture, at its meetings on 22 April and 1 July 2010, and as detailed below.
It should also be noted that in 2009 approved the largest grant in the history of this program and the Ministry of Public Works came to spend a total of 67 million euros for projects of 1 per 100 Cultural, in addition to benefiting the preservation of historical and cultural heritage, impact positively on economic activity of the population affected by the investments.
