The Museum The Mule Cigarralejo hosting an exhibition on the history of archeology in the Region of Murcia (22/04/2015)

The Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities and the University of Murcia organized at the Museum of Iberian Art Mula Cigarralejo an exhibition that reviews some of the most important archaeological research in the Region of Murcia since 1923. The exhibition is part of the the centenary of the University and sponsored Cajamurcia Foundation and the Seneca Foundation.

The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Maria Comas, said that through this exhibition, "the public can peer into the past and the history of the region and learn about the work that, over the last century have developed professionals University of Murcia in different archaeological research and scientific contributions made from this institution. "

'100 years of Archaeological Research at the University of Murcia' opens today and is an exhibition with a mainly historiographical because it visitors can discover the leading archaeologists who have gone through the University and the work developed .

The journey begins with the first systematic excavations carried out in 1923 by Cayetano Mergelina Moon in the Iberian Sanctuary of Light (Murcia) and Andrés Sobejano in Monteagudo Castle in 1924.

Other milestones that are reviewed are the creation of Art and Archaeology Seminar by Professor Mergelina Luna, and the arrival of Ana Maria Muñoz Amilibia the University of Murcia in 1975, representing the total renovation of discipline both the point of view of teaching and research.

Similarly, those who visit Cigarralejo over the coming months will know the research developed over the past 40 years by the Department of Prehistory, Archaeology, Ancient History, Medieval History and Historiography Technical Sciences.

The show, which will be displayed later in some of the museums and other municipalities in the region, has been curated by Sebastian Ramallo and José Miguel García Cano and can be visited at Cigarralejo until June, Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 to 14:00 hours and on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 11:00 to 14:00 hours.
