The Centre for Soil Science and Applied Biology Segura (CEBAS) organized under the auspices of the City of Mula, a talk on the Present and Future of Apricot in Mula taught by professors from the Department of Plant Breeding CEBAS-CSIC, José Egea Knight and David Ruiz Gonzalez, and in which more than a hundred farmers and stakeholders in the town of Mula.
Spain is one of the biggest apricot producer in the world.
This is no surplus production and, although for different reasons has suffered stagnation, is now seen a renewed interest in this species, as explained Egea Ruiz.
One of the major points discussed at the meeting is the variety of this fruit more frequent in Mula, the búlida and profitability of this species and the possibility of changing to new varieties holdings.
